Lloyd Katsuaki Hiura,
(1925 – 2025)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Lloyd Katsuaki
Hiura, who passed away on July 6, 2025 at the age of 100.
Born on January 5, 1925 in Watsonville, California, Lloyd was the oldest child of Frank Katsumi
and Ayano Hiura. He was a devoted husband to Naomi Takako for 70 years, and a loving father
to Bruce (Karen), Jon (Ema), and Sandy (Edvyn). He leaves behind six grandchildren Bryan
(Ashly), Grant (Meghana), Aaron, Dean, Luke, and Frank; and one great-grandchild, Jaxson.
He is also survived by his brothers Daniel and David (Janice), sister June, sisters-in-law Grace
and Yuri.
Lloyd survived the Japanese internment during WWII, where he and his family were interned at
Poston, Arizona. He attended Hartnell Junior College in Salinas, California and graduated from
the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy. Lloyd’s first job as a pharmacist was
at Lovotti’s Pharmacy in San Francisco, California.
Lloyd was very passionate about golf and was a member of the Spoon & Tea club of San
Francisco. He played golf almost every weekend, and attended Christ United Presbytarian
Church on Sundays when there was no golf tournament.
At his request, there will be no formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
donations be made to the Japanese Christian Church of Walnut Creek, 1955 Geary Rd., Walnut
Creek, 94597.
We will miss him dearly and cherish the memories we have of him.
