Lisabeth Shapiro
Lisabeth Shapiro, 71, of Wheelwright, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, at UK Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born on April 12, 1954, in Sharon, Massachusetts, Lisabeth dedicated her life to caring for others. She graduated from Somerville Hospital School of Nursing in 1976 and went on to serve countless patients and families throughout her career as a nurse. Her compassion and commitment extended far beyond her profession—she was always there to support and care for her loved ones and friends.
Lisabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Rhea, and her father, Myer “Mike” Shapiro. She is survived by her mother, Natalie Shapiro of Delray Beach, FL; her sisters, Ronni Shapiro of Brookline, MA, and Debbie (Lisa) Shapiro of Watertown, MA; and her six children: Luke (Kaitlin) Shapiro-Rhea of Georgetown, KY; Saoirse (Ruthanne) Blackwood of Charlestown, MA; Ketrin (Melissa) Mays of Paintsville, KY; Cimone Rhea of Fort Worth, TX; Ashley Mays of Elyria, OH; and Jequetta Parker of Campbellsville, KY. She was also blessed with a host of grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom were her greatest joy.
A memorial service will also take place on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, KY, from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Lisabeth’s legacy of kindness, selflessness, and love will live on in all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
