Linda Sue Reitmeyer Sawtell, 70, of Scranton, passed away peacefully at home on September 18, 2025. Born on November 2, 1954, in Manhattan, NYC. Raised in Riverdale, NY and Whippany, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Richard Allan and Dorothy June Reitmeyer.
Linda prided herself on being a “Jersey girl” and found joy in the simple things in life: sunsets, driving the scenic routes, or a good cup of Dunkin’ coffee or iced tea. She enjoyed crafting and spending time with her closest family and friends. She once babysat her sister’s dog, Tucker who she loved/adored, and often spoke of how much happiness that time brought her.
To know her was to know kindness, laughter, and love. She had the biggest heart and goofy personality you could never forget. She was the kind of person you could turn to for everything. Family meant everything to her and she gave so much of herself to those she loved.
She is survived by her three loving sons, James Sawtell (Laurie) of Hanover Twp, Kevin Sawtell (Kimberly) of Gouldsboro, and Steven Sawtell of Throop. Two grandchildren Kinsey & Christopher “CJ” Sawtell. Siblings, Barbara Giuliano, Carolyn Cunningham (Shirley), Richard Reitmeyer (Tina), Robert Reitmeyer (Lee), former husband Wilson Sawtell, nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Lorraine Patricia Reitmeyer.
Linda’s memory will forever live in our hearts and in the hearts of everyone who was fortunate to know her.
A celebration of life will be held by the family on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509
