Larry Helton
Larry Wayne Helton, of Wellington, Kansas,went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the age of 68.
Larry was born the son of Kenneth and Pauline (Baltzell) Helton on March 27, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas.
Leaving an unforgettable legacy of resilience, dedication, and endless support. Larry was a charismatic man with an infectious smile that could light up any room. He was a titan of strength, a beacon of love, and a symbol of unwavering dedication. Larry was a man of many trades but was best known for his work as a machinist in the aircraft industry. He was a dedicated worker at Air MidWest in Wichita, Kansas, in the early ’80s and at GEC in Wellington, Kansas, throughout the ’90s. His work was not just a job, it was a passion, a craft that he had honed over the years.
In his leisure, Larry was a man of the outdoors, a lover of nature who found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was a die-hard fan of John Wayne movies, often watching them during holidays with his family. He found joy in fishing and camping and had a deep love for his animals. Larry also had a daring side to him, having been a rodeo clown throughout the ’80s for some of the greatest bull riders, like Tuff Hedman. He was also a dedicated father and grandfather, spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in his actions and his words, always supportive, always there.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Tammy Cox of Wellington, KS; Children: Ashley (Robert) Spaulding of Wellington, KS; Zachary (Kayla) Helton of Olathe, KS; Seth Helton of Ponca City, OK; Gavin (Kayla Bond) Helton of Wellington, KS; Grandchildren: Maricruz McEachern; Teagan Spaulding; Bennett Spaulding of Wellington, KS; River Helton of Olathe, KS; Dane Helton; Avril Helton of Wellington, KS; Siblings: Paulette (Mark) of Dallas, TX; Kenneth (Meredith) Helton Jr. of Augusta, KS; and Paula Kay Horning along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Helton Sr. and mother, Paulette Baltzell.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Church of Christ, 217 W. 13th Street, Wellington, Kansas 67152.
