Kay Haberichter, age 88, of Chandler, Arizona, formerly of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025. She was born on August 2, 1936, to Jim and Clarice (Barron) Murray in Dodge City, Kansas. She graduated from Larned High School in 1954 and attended Stormont Vail School of Nursing in Topeka, KS, graduating in 1957. On March 15, 1957, she was united in marriage to Duane Haberichter at the First United Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Together they shared 61 years of marriage until Duane passed away in 2019.
Kay worked at Larned St. Joseph’s hospital out of college. She then went on to work at the University of Iowa while Duane was attending pharmacy school. Later, Kay went to work at Mahaska County Hospital for 32 years until retiring. She enjoyed sewing and tending to her flower garden. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa, Women’s Group at the church and P.E.O.
She is survived by her children, Renee (Kurt) Sager of DeWitt, Iowa, Denise (Jim) Hudson of Gilbert Arizona and Pam (Mark) Blom of Phoenix Arizona. Grand Children include Eizabeth, Joseph, and Gretchen Sager, Aaron Hudson, Ryan (Taylor) and Austin (Ashley) Blom. Great Grand Children include Theodore, Lily, and Julian (Blom) and special niece Carolyn (Dale) Eichman.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane, her parents, and her siblings Jack, Jerry, Dorothy, Bill, Charlotte, Edward, and Rex.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 10:30 at the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa with Pastor Jihoon Lee officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa following services. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of services. Visitation will be held at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 16, beginning at 6:00-8:00 pm with Kay’s family present to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church.
