Julio Cagigal

Julio Jaime Cagigal passed away peacefully in San Francisco on May 28, 2025, at the age of 76.

As an Air Force Veteran who served in Vietnam, Julio later dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service before retiring. He was also a long-standing member of El Unión Española, where he found friendship, community, and a connection to his roots.

Julio was the beloved husband of the late Elsa Cagigal, who preceded him in death in 2011. He was a devoted father to his son, Christian; and loving son of the late Saturnina Cagigal (passed in 2001). He is survived by his sister, Maria-Elena Gigli; and extended family Juan-Carlos Gigli, Dina Trounday, and Aminta Rosales. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews: Mark, Alba, Alexandra, David, C.J., Dylan, and Britni.

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary followed by Burial at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma.

Julio will be remembered for his service, his loyalty, and the love he had for his family and community.
