Joyce Watts
Joyce Allene Watts, born July 26, 1936 in Caldwell, KS, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025. A spirited and resilient woman, Joyce spent her life in dedicated service to others, both in her professional and personal life. Residing in Perth, Kansas for the majority of her life, she left an indelible mark on the community.
Joyce grew up in Caldwell, Kansas on her family farm and later raised her own children on a farm in Perth, Kansas. She brought her nurturing spirit to her work as a nurse aide, first at St. Luke’s Hospital and later with Sumner County Home Health and the Sumner County health department. This dedication to others carried over into her personal life, as she was a regular attendee at Mayfield Federated Church, where she shared her gift of music by playing the piano for a multitude of churches. A gifted pianist, Joyce also enjoyed watching football and baseball, bringing joy and camaraderie to all who knew her.
Joyce is survived by her children Jeanette Crisler (Kent), Diane Lizarraga (Michael), Lloyd Stover, Cindy Bauer (Michael), and Aron Watts (Sharity); her grandchildren Hilary Murphy, Megan Kane, Jesse Crisler, Seth Crisler, Gracie Crisler, Tyler Stover, Sara Davison, Austin Norton, Adam Stover, Nolan Bauer, Andrew Bauer, Ashlyn Watts; her 20 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Frances Treft; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Rose Urban, her spouses Lloyd Stover and Elvin Watts, her son Stuart Stover, her grandson Zachary Stover, her sister Mildred Urban, her brother Ervin Urban, and her sister-in-law Oraleen Urban.
A visitation will be held for Joyce on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 1:00pm with family present from 5-7pm at Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1030 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas, 67152. A funeral service will follow on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 10:00am at the same location. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Perth, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home Health and Hospice of Kansas. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
