Joyce Abbott

Joyce Thomson Abbott, 92, passed away on Friday, July 25th surrounded by her family. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Donn Harding Abbott Sr. and parents Fremont and Ethelyn Thomson. She is survived by her sisters Joan Hayden and Jill (Harlow) Blodgett.

Joyce was the loving mother of Joy (Kirk) Barton and Donn (Linda) Abbott, cherished grandmother of Stacy (Shawn) Oppegard, Todd (Jodi) Abbott, Brett (Kristen) Barton, Sean Abbott and preceded in death by granddaughter Bethany Abbott. She was also the great-grandmother of Kylee, Isla, Hunter, Ben, Mabel, Estie, Chase, and preceded in death by great-granddaughter Jolene. She was the treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was one of the founding members of Our Saviour’s United Methodist Church in Schaumburg. She was an active participant in the United Methodist Women’s group, serving in several different positions. She served on many church committees and was a dedicated and cherished church leader for 55 years.

Joyce lived in Hoffman Estates for 65 years and touched so many lives through her church, her neighborhood, the community organizations she was involved in, and her family. She will truly be missed by many. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Saviour’s United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in Joyce’s name.
