Joy Gaskill

Joy L. Gaskill, 85, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Lydia Taft House, Uxbridge. She was the wife of the late Carlton A. Gaskill for 55 years.

Joy came into the world on December 25, 1939 in Worcester, the daughter of the late L. Everett and Charlene (Taylor) Murch. She graduated from Mendon High School.

She worked as a dispatcher for the town of Mendon, working originally out of her house as she raised her young family and then later, out of the police station. She worked in that capacity, for the town, for over 20 years before her retirement in 2003.

She enjoyed listening to country music, solving jigsaw puzzles, camping, Friday nights with family, and watching Wheel of Fortune. Joy had a great sense of humor and would often spark a room full of laughter.

She is survived by her 3 sons; Dean C. Gaskill and his companion Suzanne Schell of Uxbridge, Terry S. Gaskill and his wife Karen of Mendon, Shawn M. Gaskill and his wife Christy of Douglas; a sister Lorena Baldiga of Mendon; 6 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Dale A. and Glenn L. Gaskill, her sister Jewell Clarke, brother Lauren “Butch” Murch, and her companion Daniel W. Bellefontaine.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Lydia Taft House for their friendship and compassion throughout the last year.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 from 10AM-11AM in Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, Milford, followed by a funeral service at 11AM in the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Gaskill Family Cemetery on George Street in Mendon directly after the services.

Memorial donations in memory of Joy may be made to American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
