It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine Sagula, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, who passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025 at the age of 97.

Josephine was born in the Bronx, NY, married Louis Sagula July 10, 1948 and moved to Nanuet in 1962, where she raised her family.

Josephine was a devoted mother to five children, a loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren, and a proud great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and her love for them knew no bounds. As a mother, she nurtured with patience, kindness, and strength. Her legacy of unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to call her family.

A woman of deep faith, Josephine was devoted to her church and her community. She spent hours volunteering at the soup kitchen and St. Vincent de Paul. She offered her time, her heart, and her hands to those in need. Josephine was an active member of St. Aedan’s Church in Pearl River where she was a Eucharist Minister and also volunteered as a CCD teacher. Her faith in God was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.

Throughout her life, Josphine embodied selflessness and grace, always putting others before herself. She took joy in the little moments and loved being with her family. Her laughter, warmth, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Josephine is survived by her children Tina and Chris Ruocco, Louis Sagula, Jennie and Charlie Koester, Ann and Guy Biondi and Grace and Joe Bechinelli. Her grandchildren Chris, Rebecca, Joseph, Lauren, Mark , Marissa , Amanda, James, Stephen, Zach and Bianca and her 9 great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Sagula and brother Albert DeLuca.

A celebration of her life will be held on October 1, 2025 from 4pm – 8pm at Sorce Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul or St. Aedans Church.

Rest in peace, Josephine, your love, your faith, and your legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew you.
