Josephine C. Monchelli, 104, a life long resident of Spring Brook Twp.,passed away Monday at Allied Hospice in Scranton. She is the widow of Carl Monchelli.
Born September 22, 1920 in Spring Brook Township, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Ezdebski) Kenosky. Josephine was educated in the Spring Brook schools, and was self employed as a beautician for many years.
She was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society at the church. Josephine was known as a talented homemaker, excelling at cooking wonderful meals and baking for her family and friends. She was a very dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her sons: Gene Monchelli of Lake Ariel, PA, John Monchelli of Haden, CO, and Carl Monchelli of Spring Brook Township; three grandchildren: Jolene Monchelli, Gene Monchelli, and Joseph Monchelli; great-granddaughter Penny; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Josephine was preceded in death by her two sisters; and three brothers.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday October 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Church Street, Moscow, PA. with Rev. Thomas Muldowney, pastor as celebrant.
