Joan Purchia

Joan Ann Purchia (née Bozzelli), of Mamaroneck, NY, passed away on September 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 87.

Born in the Bronx on January 28, 1938, to Anthony and Maria (née Romano) Bozzelli, Joan graduated from Jane Addams Vocational High School in June 1957. A devoted homemaker, she loved to cook and host family gatherings, creating countless cherished memories. Later in life, she became a certified locksmith and worked alongside her husband in the family business.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Roger Purchia; her loving children, Andrew Purchia and his wife Debbie, and Anthony Purchia and his wife Michelle; and her cherished grandchildren, Robert Purchia, Joanne Hulsey and her husband James, Qiara Bouldin and her fiancé Cleveland Prince, Anthony “AJ” Purchia, and Christopher Purchia. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy: Giancarlo Purchia, Leonardo Purchia, Adelynn Hulsey, and Elea Hulsey. Joan will also be deeply missed by her dear nephews , Joseph Bozzelli, by whom she adored,Martin Bozzelli and her grand-niece, Angelina Bozzelli.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony Bozzelli and Joseph Bozzelli.

Family and friends are invited to honor Joan’s life on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY. A prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
