Joan Caruso, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 87 in Staten Island, NY. Born on October 12, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Peter and Antoinette Caruso, Joan’s life was one marked by love, intelligence, and a spirit of adventure.
Joan grew up in a close-knit family and shared an unbreakable bond with her sister, Mary Ann Warner, and brother-in-law, Harold Warner. She was a beloved aunt to John DellAquila, who will carry the legacy of her kindness and wisdom. Joan’s early years were spent in the halls of North Babylon High School, where she graduated before embarking on a distinguished career.
For over two decades, Joan dedicated her professional life to Bankers Trust, where she excelled as an Assistant Vice President for Corporate Trust Services. Her intelligence and work ethic were evident to all who worked alongside her, and her contributions to the industry were significant and lasting.
Joan’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. She was an avid ballroom dancer, gracefully gliding across dance floors and savoring the joy of movement and music. Her love of sports was equally fervent, as she cheered on her favorite baseball and football teams with enthusiasm and loyalty.
Those who knew Joan would describe her as loving, adventurous, and intelligent. She approached life with a sense of curiosity and a desire to learn and experience all that it had to offer. Her adventurous spirit was matched by her loving nature, always putting family and friends at the heart of her world.
As we remember Joan, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Joan’s memory will indeed remain a part of us, her love and legacy imprinted on the hearts of those she touched.
Joan Caruso’s life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to Joan, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she has left on this world. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the memories of her love and laughter will forever warm our hearts.
