James Ryan

James “Jim” Ryan (1960-2025). Beloved husband of 39 years to Maureen. Cherished father of Jess (John Tokarz), the late Timmy and Patrick, and Maggie (Jacob Hamilton). Devoted son of the late Alice and Michael Ryan. Loving brother of Mike (Christine) Ryan, Kathy (the late Pete) Kemmer, Norine (the late Rich) Abramovic, and Margaret (Steve) Bruton. Jim will also be deeply missed by his many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Born and raised in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, Jim proudly served in the United States Army. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Blackhawks, and White Sox, cheering them on through every season.

Jim was known for his love of a good dad joke and harmless pranks, a playful spirit he passed on to his daughters. Above all, Jim was devoted to his family, and his love, laughter, and kindness will be remembered always.

Visitation on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S Wallace Street, Chicago, IL. Funeral Friday, October 24, 2025, 9 a.m. at the Chapel to Nativity of Lord Church, 653 W. 37th Street, Mass of the Resurrection 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, in Elwood, IL privately for his family at a later date.
