James Loftin

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dedicated husband and loving father, James Worth Loftin. Born on January 18th, 1933 in Tolar, TX. 

James attended Tolar High School and played for the Tolar Rattlers. James met his wife, Nelda Joy Durant, just shy of seventy three years of marriage, at the movie theater on the Granbury Square. They wed on August 3rd, 1952. James took a job with Sun Oil Company and the newly weds moved to North Dakota. James was drafted into the military at the end if the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Once back to the states, James continued work with Sun Oil, with Joy as homemaker. In 1963 they started their family welcoming Carol Renée and a year and a half later Karen Ann. Finally settling in Lake Charles, Louisiana to raise their family. Once retired James and Joy moved back to Granbury. James went back to ranching and raised prized winning Black Angus Cattle. 

James loved the outdoors, reading, his pet Cockatiel and the Dallas Cowboys. 

James is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joy Loftin, parents Marshall and Mary Grey Loftin, brother Robert Loftin and wife Dorothy, brother Charles Loftin. James is survived by daughter, Renée Dodds, grandson Max Jett and wife Ashlyn, daughter Karen Davis and husband Mike, grandson Zackery Guillory and wife Angie, their children Etienne and Olivia, granddaughter Kasey Guillory her son Landon. Grandson Michael Davis, wife Heather their children Caden and Mallory. Grandsons Quinn and Spencer Conine.

A graveside service will be at 2pm, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Acton Cemetery.
