Jackie Shatley

Jackie Garfield Shatley, age 81, of Jefferson, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025, at his home. Mr. Shatley was born June 24, 1944, in Ashe County to Quincy Garfield and Hattie Kearley Shatley. He was married for 62 years to Betty Jean Roland Shatley. Mr. Shatley was the owner and operator of Shatley Electric for over 50 years, wiring over 1000 houses in Ashe and surrounding counties. Jackie was a kind and giving man with an infectious laugh. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jackie loved Little Debbie cakes and was a big kid at heart. For over 30 years the Shatley’s and neighbors put up Christmas lights on Gum Branch Road in Jefferson and it became a family tradition and was enjoyed by many.

Mr. Shatley was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse, Betty Jean Roland Shatley; sister, Iva Flynn; three angel grandbabies; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ovid and Gaye Shatley, Raymond and Maggie Shatley, Allen and Evelyn Shatley, Dean and Arlene Shatley; and brother, Joe Kearley.

He is survived by his sons, Teddy Shatley and spouse Terri and Eddie Shatley and spouse Tina all of Jefferson; daughter, Debbie Severt and spouse Rusty of Jefferson; grandchildren, Logan Shatley and Dylan Severt both of Jefferson, Mikayla Calloway and spouse Steven of Wilkes, Makensie Hudler and spouse Zach, and Maria Shatley all of Jefferson; great grandchildren, Natalie Hudler and Callie Jo Hudler of Jefferson, and Clara Faye Calloway of Wilkes; and sister-in-law, Barbara Kearley; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11th, 2025 at the homeplace.
