Irene Gallardo

After 84 years on this earth Irene Gallardo (Duarte) passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025. Irene was a beloved wife, mother and sister, preceded in death by her husband Arthur Rios Gallardo, whom she was married to for 43 years, parents Robert and Sarah Duarte, aunt Stella Coronado, sisters Bertha Ramirez, Christina Valenzuela and Esther Cogley, and brothers Robert Duarte Jr. and Robert Coronado. She is survived by her sisters Gloria Jimenez (Ted), Mary Lou Salazar, Cruz Galo, Rebecca Cruickshank (David) and Vera Coronado, brothers Joe, Ted and Lionel, daughter Terry Mitchell (David) and grandchildren Elizabeth and Harrison, and sons Frank (Jean-Robert Lafont) and Joseph. Irene was a tireless volunteer worker with the PTA, Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts, Little League, Girls Softball, and as a teacher’s aide at Desert View Elementary and Most Holy Trinity Catholic School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 340 E Palm Ln, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 10:00am at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8620 N 7th St, Phoenix, AZ 85020. Two complementary receptions will follow at Irene’s home, 413 E. El Camino Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85020, and Cross Roads United Methodist Church, 7901 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85020.
