Inspiring Carson City man Nick Campbell remembered after losing battle with cancer
- June 10, 2025

By Susan Sorenson — With heavy hearts, the Carson City community announces the passing of Nick Campbell, a brave young man who fought terminal cancer with unwavering courage and grace. Nick passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, honor, and resilience that touched everyone who knew his story.
In the final months of his life, Nick received one of the highest honors from the United States Marine Corps, who named him an Honorary Marine, a distinction awarded to only a few individuals each year and approved by the Pentagon. He was also presented with the Distinguished Service Award and made an Honorary Member of the Marine Corps League, Battle Born Detachment #672, in a moving ceremony that celebrated his spirit and determination.
Nick’s mother, Frankie, has been his tireless caregiver — sacrificing everything to give her son the very best in care and comfort. She now faces not only the unimaginable grief of losing her son but also the weight of medical and funeral expenses.
A GoFundMe campaign remains active to help alleviate these financial burdens. The family is asking for the continued support of the community during this time of loss. Every donation, share, and prayer is a tangible way to honor Nick’s life and support Frankie as she moves forward. Go here for the GoFundMe page.
