Herbert Davis
- May 13, 2025

Herbert Davis was born on November 30, 1957, in St. Ann, Jamaica to Elsaida (Brown) Smith. On Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the age of 67, Herbert peacefully departed his earthly life at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Herbert attended Bamboo School in Lilyfield District, Jamaica and accepted Christ at an early age. In the late 70’s, Herbert migrated from Jamaica to Connecticut, where he was employed by the Local Union 230 in Hartford until the time of his retirement.
Herbert was a “Jack of all trades”, he had a sincere love for music and production, having recorded his very own reggae album. Herbert was an automotive enthusiast and had a love for upholstering furniture and enjoyed working with and restoring electric devices. He was a talented cook; his favorite dishes were ackee and saltfish.
Herbert optimized the latter years of his life to focus on his health and wellness, finding community and a love for fitness at the local gym.
Herbert leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Gail Jones-Davis of Hartford, CT; his mother, Elsaida Smith of St. Ann, Jamaica; three daughters: Tiffany Jones of Hartford, CT, Kimoya and Naomi Davis both of Jamaica; three sisters-in-law: Rose McCovey of Windsor, CT, Barbara Jones of East Hartford, CT and Debra Samuel of AL; two brothers-in-law, Christopher (Jellena) Jones of Windsor, CT and Johnnie (Brenda) Jones of Jonesboro, GA; three special cousins: Ann Marie of East Windsor, CT, Debbie and Donna of Jamaica; special aunt, Mehala Brown of Jamaica; special friends, Gary DaCosta and Tony Williams; beloved Godchildren, Edward Ashmeade and Kieanna Headley and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
His influence extended beyond his family and left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to have crossed his path. Herbert will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
