HELEN MARIE MINCHAK, a lifelong Yonkers NY resident, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at age 94.
She was born June 28,1930 to Joseph and Susie (Prusak) Minchak. Graduate of Most Holy Trinity Parochial School, Benjamin Franklin Junior High School and Commerce High School and a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity R.C. Church until its closure in 2015 where she was a member of the Choir, the Holy Rosary Society, the Parish Counsel, and a member of several Slovak fraternal organizations.
Helen career started at Alexander Smith Carpet Factory in Yonkers. Upon the company’s relocation, Helen worked for Phelps Dodge Cable and Wire Company (later known as Cablec) until her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed the company of friends and co-workers throughout her years at Phelps Dodge and Cablec and participated in the company’s Woman’s Bowling League for several seasons.
Her love of music was reflected through her long-standing membership in the choir of the parish in which she was a member. She enjoyed reading, walking and being surrounded by the company of her family and friends.
Helen leaves behind the legacy of her life devoted in service to others and her devotion to prayer and the Holy Rosary. This legacy will remain within the hearts of all of those who had the pleasure of her company.
Helen is survived by her sister Margaret Saladak, a loving a supportive family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Helen is pre-deceased by her parents and her sister Anna Swatko.
To commemorate her life, the family has not designated a specific charity,but has requested that contributions in Helen’s memory be made to the doner’s choice of charity.

Visitation for Helen will be at DUCHYNSKI-CHERKO Funeral Home on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 4PM to 8PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10AM.
Interment follows at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
