GUSTAV LEWIS GUNDERSON
1940-2025
Gustav Lewis Gunderson, 80, of Weatherby, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, in the home where he was born.
Gus was born on June 30, 1944 in the home at Weatherby, Missouri, to parents Gwynetha (Wolf) Gunderson and Leo Nelson Gunderson.
He began his schooling at Bethel Methodist Church followed by Spring Grove School, Weatherby Grade School, and then graduating from Maysville High School. He served in the Army National Guard of Missouri from May 16, 1962 to May 15, 1965. Upon his Honorable Discharge he transferred to the Army Reserve. Gus worked in Indianapolis, Indiana transferring to Ohio where he began his training and employment in the Tool and Die industry. Upon returning to the home he loved he continued that trade in Kansas City, MO.
He was blessed with a great companion and wife when he married Ethel Grace West on April 21, 1993. Grace was loved by his family especially his nieces and nephews.
Gustav was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and brother-in-law James Richerson.
He is survived by a brother, James Leo Gunderson (Margaret), a sister, Anna Christina Richerson, nieces and nephews, Jennifer Napier, Peter Gunderson (Chrystal), Jeffrey Richerson (Karrie), Christina Hoksbergen (Doug) and great nieces and nephews, Kayla, Alex, Jared, Reese, Lane and Sage.
Per his wishes no formal service is planned. A spreading of his ashes will take place with family and friends at a later date at Loggendate Norwegian Cemetery which he lovingly cared for. If you choose, memorials may be left to Loggendate Cemetery. Online condolences: www.turnerfamilyfuneral.com
