Gunner Ray Sommerlot was born on October 19, 2025, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, to loving parents Justin and Nikki (Clatt) Sommerlot. He gained his angel wings on November 4, 2025, at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, surrounded by his devoted family.
Although Gunner’s time on earth was short, he was loved beyond measure by his family and by everyone who had the joy of meeting him. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
A special thank you is extended to everyone who prayed for Gunner and to the compassionate staff at Cardinal Glennon for the exceptional care they provided.
Along with his parents, Justin and Nikki, Gunner is survived by his brother, Kayden Clatt, maternal grandparents, Jerry and Carmon Clatt; paternal grandparents, Kent and Christena Sommerlot; his aunt, Amanda (Seth) Dimmitt; uncle, Tyler Sommerlot. He is also survived by his maternal great-grandparents, Willis and Ruth Ann Hamm; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Ann Spragg; great-uncle Willie (Elizabeth) Hamm; great-aunt Wanda (Mike) Elam; special cousins Taylar and Justin Rhine; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
Gunner was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather, Walter Spragg; great-grandparents Ruth and Dale Sommerlot; and maternal great-grandparents Barbara and Bill Clatt.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to assist the family with medical expenses of Gunner Sommerlot in care of Justin or Nikki Sommerlot or to the Cardinal Glennon NICU Child Life Services.
