George Krivak

George Andrew Krivak of Middletown, NY, a former resident of Yorktown Heights, NY, passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 90. He also lived in Yonkers, New York, Lakewood, New Jersey and Cornwall, New York.

George spent his early adult years working as a Westchester County Parkway Police Officer for 25 years in Westchester County, NY. In 1962, he married Margaret (Peggy) Marlin, with whom he had four children, and remained married for 62 years until her passing in 2024. While living in Yorktown, he also took in and cared for his mother, Mary, after his father’s passing. For many years, George worked two jobs and extra shifts to support his family. Upon retirement from the police department, he worked at the Yorktown Heights Post Office until full retirement. Outside of work, he volunteered as a basketball coach for the Yorktown Athletic Club’s travel basketball team, including many years after his children aged out of the program. He took immense pride in being a father figure to his family, his volunteer work, and his community. He loved working with kids and was a steady presence coaching and inspiring them to be at their best. He loved watching sports with his kids, especially the Yankees and the Giants, but also rooted whichever teams his kids rooted for. His legacy lives on in those he touched and the love he gave so freely. Above all, Dad cherished his five grandchildren. He never missed a chance to ask how they were doing in school or on the field, and his pride in their accomplishments was boundless.

George was raised in Yonkers, NY by his parents Andrew and Mary Krivak. In 1962, he married Margaret (Peggy) Marlin in Yonkers, NY. George is predeceased by his wife Margaret (Peggy) Krivak; and brother-in-law Henry Jung.

He is survived by his sister: Joan Jung; his daughter: Kathleen Lange; his three sons: Gifford, Russell, and Bill Krivak; his five grandchildren: Chrysa, Diane, Zachary, Andrew, and Lucas; his son-in-law: Paul Lange; and two daughters-in-law: Bessie Krivak, and Rhiannon Krivak and many nieces and nephews.

George will be remembered for his kind heart, dedication to his family, and willingness to help others.
