Gene was a loving Father, Husband, Papaw, Brother, and Friend to many. God blessed him with many gifts. Some of his gifts included being a talented musician, carpentry work, and farming gardens each spring season that produced a good crop. Gene always had a story to tell from his wonderful days growing up in the Plainview community and of his family. Stories always included working alongside his dad and brothers as they worked on the farm. Growing up in a large family with many siblings, he always felt the true value of love. A hot cup of coffee and a great conversation were always cherished within the family. Gene always enjoyed his work in carpentry. The detail he put into construction work was meticulous and thorough leading to the enjoyment of the finished product. He had many adventures through Bluegrass music. Gene was a member of the bluegrass bands “The Southern Bluegrass Boys” and “Southland Bluegrass”. Throughout his music career, he developed many friendships and memories. Some of these friendships lasted a lifetime. His stories captivated and brought a smile to all those listening to him. He always had a willing heart to help others and was never shaken in his courage or beliefs. He honored and remembered his duty to serve his country in the US Marines during the Korean War.
