Gary Kasper

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gary Edward Kasper on April 29, 2025.

Gary was born on March 7, 1963 to Gerald (Jerry) Kasper and Beverley Kasper in Alhambra, California. He was the youngest of three sons. The Kasper boys grew up in Alhambra and made many lifelong friends there. Showing an early aptitude for sports, Gary excelled in Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football. He was a talented athlete and lettered in cross country and baseball at Alhambra High School. With his friendly smile, outgoing personality and boyish good looks, he was very popular and was highly sought after for prom dates.

After high school, Gary attended the University of Southern California. Gary loved his USC experience and often reminisced about the leafy campus, the elite athletic programs and the fun social atmosphere.

Armed with his USC business degree, Gary built a distinguished career in banking. Personal interactions and establishing long-term relationships with his customers were a wonderful fit for his personality and skillset. Knowing his customers and helping them to realize their commercial projects gave him great joy and satisfaction. He enjoyed the give and take of negotiations and his warmth, integrity and good humor shone through every deal.

When not working, he was busy raising his sons Ray and Rob. The many hours spent with his sons pitching batting practice or helping to train for track were some of the happiest days of his life. Gary loved sharing their activities and spending time with their friends and parents. Family trips to the East Coast to historical destinations were extra special, as he nurtured a lifelong passion for American history. After his boys were grown and married, he was blessed with four grandchildren. The cycle of baseball games, soccer games, ballet and school activities repeated and Gary participated in them all with his grandkids. He may have complained that he was too old to pitch batting practice, but he loved it.

Later in life, he found a deep and enduring love with Laura. Their love blossomed years after knowing each other in college. Gary cherished their time spent together and with each other’s families. Travel took them to many interesting places around the globe.

Gary was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer and met this challenge with grace, dignity and a fierce passion to overcome it. Gary is survived by Laura Woo, his brothers Rick Kasper (Amy) and Steve Kasper (Mary), his sons Ray Kasper (Dina) and Rob Kasper (Mary) and his grandchildren Victoria, Easton, Liam and Isabel.
