Frederick Katona

Frederick David Katona, of Milford, CT, beloved husband of Cirene, died on August 29, 2025.

Fred was born at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT on January 18, 1944 to the late Frank and Mary (Guti) Katona. He was raised in Stratford and was a graduate of Stratford High School and Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Fred was a quality control engineer for Sikorsky and a tech support engineer for a Practical Automation. His hobbies and interests include watching sports, especially his favorite teams the NY Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. He enjoyed bowling and walking his dog in the neighborhood. Fred spent a great part of his life fishing and taking care of his boat.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kurt Katona; two grandsons Christopher Lee Katona and Kyle Jaymz Katona; and his two great-grandchildren, Aubriella and Kayden Katona;  his brother, Frank Katona and his wife, Donna Katona, and their three children, Jennifer Rae, Frank Katona II, and Kenneth Katona; his sister Marianne Chavez and her husband, Arthur Chavez and their two sons, Michael and Dennis Chavez. Also survived by stepsons, Pablo Carneiro and Jean Carneiro; stepdaughter,  Aline Carneiro; step-grandchildren,  Agatha DaSilva and her husband Max, Cleo Docu, Junior Docu and Beatriz DaSilva; cousins, Frankie Oglin and Jeff Oglin; special friends, Phillip Mazzaro, Josiane Ferreira and Dina, Luiz and Phillip Martins and Nadir, Jovanette and Guilherme Oliveira; and his dog, Chaenny.
