Frank (Tad) Luther Driver IV , of West Caldwell NJ and Waterford Ireland, passed away on May 18, 2025. He was a man of great intellect, curiosity, and quiet strength, known for his adventurous spirit, deep love of learning, and unwavering devotion to family.
Raised in Essex Fells, NJ Frank attended Essex Fells Elementary School and later graduated from Montclair Kimberley Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Chicago.
Frank began his professional career at General Motors in the Treasury Department. His responsibilities lead to extensive international travel across Africa, Venezuela and Central Asia. His travels reaffirmed his deep interest and curiosity about world history and foreign cultures. Eventually, he joined the family business, Driver-Harris Company, a multinational manufacturer of wire and cable. Frank led the business through an extensive restructuring which included selling the US operation and a number of its international subsidiaries. After the sale, Frank relocated to Ireland to lead the company’s remaining Irish division, where he continued to uphold the family’s legacy in the electrical cable manufacturing industry.
An avid outdoorsman, Frank found joy in nature and thrived on adventure. He loved hiking, camping, river rafting, and even spent one New Year’s Eve dog-sledding and camping on the ice in Alaska. He was also a voracious reader, always eager to expand his knowledge. He was quick to engage with those around him, always showing a genuine interest in what they had to say. Tad loved to spend time studying his family’s history and tracking its lineage. He was selfless and caring, always putting family members first and taking care of others before himself. Among his favorite places was the family’s summer home in Rhode Island where he enjoyed the pleasures of fishing, boating, being with loved ones and taking in breathtaking sunsets.
Frank was predeceased by his father, Frank Luther Driver III. He is survived by his devoted mother, Corinne Francis (Lovell) Driver; his loving siblings, Jean R. Driver and her husband Jeff Domine, Timothy Driver and his partner Linda Zuccarello, and Andrew Driver and his wife Lynn. He also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews: Hunt, Casey, Wyatt, Madeline, Emma and Zoe, along with a wide circle of extended family and close friends who will miss him dearly.
