Final 1870 Carson City Minted Liberty Seated Half Dollar medallion up for grabs
- November 1, 2025

By Dan Neverett — The Friends of the Nevada State Museum today announced a special raffle featuring a truly rare collectible: the #3000 Medallion of the 1870 Carson City Minted Liberty Seated Half Dollar. This medallion is the last one in the series and was struck on the museum’s historic Coin Press #1.
Minted with Nevada silver, the #3000 medallion is the final piece minted in this exclusive series on the press, which is the original coining press used at the U.S. Mint in Carson City. All other medallions in this series are sold out at the Museum Store, and the die for this specific medallion has been retired, ensuring this exact piece will not be minted again.
Raffle tickets are $5 each and are currently available at the Nevada State Museum admission desk. All proceeds directly support the Friends of the Nevada State Museum, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The drawing will be held at the Museum’s Christmas Faire on Sunday, December 14th. The winner need not be present to win.
The Friends of the Nevada State Museum is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to supporting the mission of the Nevada State Museum through program support, advocacy, and fundraising. Last year alone, the dedicated members of the organization donated over 8,030 hours toward these vital goals.
