Elfriede (Ellie) Stoohs

Elfriede (Ellie) Stoohs, age 87, formerly of Montvale, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025.  Born in Germany on March 3, 1938, Ellie was the oldest of five siblings.  She had an adventurous spirit and legally immigrated to the United States when she was 19.  It was here where she met her late husband, Robert Sturgis Stoohs.  Ellie is survived by two siblings, her two sons, Brian (and his wife, Karen) and Kevin (and his wife, Frances), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  One of her greatest joys was the title of “Oma” to Deborah, Nick, Brianna and Dylan.  Ellie’s kindness, creativity, masterful love of baking, the many holiday cookie creations and love for her family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

 As per Ellie’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.  Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Tappan Zee Manor in Nyack, NY for their supportive care in her last golden years.  A private celebration of life will take place on May 17, 2025.  Donations to the United Hospice (https://unitedhospiceinc.org/donation/) and/or the Dementia Society of America (https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate) are welcome to honor Ellie’s memory.
