Eldon Barone
- June 2, 2025

Eldon Wade Barone, 80, of Polk, Ohio, passed away from his life on earth on June 1, 2025 following a brief and courageous battle with glioblastoma.
Eldon was born on December 8, 1944 in Oberlin, Ohio, the son of Ellsworth and Arlene (Richards) Barone.
He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior when he was 27 years old. It was then that Eldon became a new creation, as the Bible says. Because of this, we have the assurance of what the scriptures say that Eldon is “absent from the body and present with the Lord.”
Eldon graduated from Black River High School in 1962. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed farming and retired as a Superintendent of Maintenance at Ford Motor Company- Casting Plant in Brookpark, Ohio.
In 1965, Eldon married his love, Patricia (Rosso) Barone, who survives. Together they raised two children, Jack (Brandy) Barone and Lynda (Steve) Black, all of Polk.
As they were with their children, Eldon and Pattie immensely enjoyed being a close presence in the lives of their four grandsons: Colt (Sydney) Black of Bellevue, WA, Wade (Tecca) Barone of Grantville, PA, Connor (Taylor) Black of Ashland, OH and Gage (Casey) Barone of Ashland, OH.
Eldon delighted in his great-grandchildren, Lake Evelyn and Wilder Everett Black. (And Millie Jo Black due in July 2025).
Eldon is also survived by a sister, Madge (Ralph) Roub and brother-in-law, Guy Rosso.
Eldon was a big history buff and an engaging storyteller. He was generous and kind; funny and loving. The greatest gift he gave his family was to share his love of Jesus with them.He will be missed by them every day until they are all together again with their Lord.
Eldon was a member of Ashland Grace Church where he served in many roles over his 48 years of attendance. His church family was a source of joy and support for him. Being a part of Grace Group “314” was a blessing to him.
Eldon was a member of The Gideons International for over 25 years. He and Pattie passed out hundreds of Bibles and he served in various leadership roles. He enjoyed his Wednesday morning Lyn-way prayer group that he faithfully attended for 20 years.
Eldon was “Poppy” to his grandchildren, their friends and friends’ families and, most recently, the staff at Good Shepherd home where he was so lovingly cared for during his illness.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in the Ashland Grace Church. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the church. He will be laid to rest in the Red Haw cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 5, Ashland, Ohio 44805
