Dorothy Gibson
Dorothy Marie Jordan Gibson, age 86, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at SOMC Hospice, Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on Saturday, May 27, 1939, to the late Thurman and Hannah A. White Jordan.
Dorothy worked for Lewis County Ambulance, US Shoe, Lewis County Emergency Management, and on November 8, 2010, was named a Kentucky Colonel. She was a member of Vanceburg Christian Baptist Church, enjoyed going to church camp and mission trips with two of her most cherished friends, Janie and Carolyn, taking bus trips with her sister, shopping and spending time with her children and grandchildren, and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, John Gregory Gibson; one son, John Gregory Gibson; four brothers, Elmer Jordan, Homer (Bud) Jordan, Noah (Waynard) Jordan, Loil (Allen) Jordan; six sisters, Emma Faron, Oddie Hanners, Margie Armstrong, Mrytle Crawford, Evilen Jordan, Ona Jordan.
Left to cherish her memory is one son, Rafe (Mary) Gibson of Quincy, Kentucky; three daughters, Lisa (Scott) Gibson of West Mansfield, Ohio, Jill (Craig) Massie of Portsmouth, Kentucky, Johannah (Chris) Cooper of Vanceburg, Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Shirley Jordan and Vanda Miller; many loving nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends that will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 10 Dudley Avenue, Garrison, Kentucky, 41141, with Brother Travis Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Quincy Methodist Cemetery, Quincy, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2025, until the service hour at Globe Family Funeral Chapel.
Jacob Cooper, Jarrod Clemons, Daniel Clemons, Matthew Massie, John Gibson, Josh Gibson will serve as pallbearers.
