Donald Byrd

Mr. Donald Vance Byrd, age 86, of Jonesville, passed away on Thursday May 16, 2025 at Pruitt Health Care in Elkin.

Mr. Byrd was born on June 12, 1938 in Surry County to the late Vance Byrd and Maude Mastin Byrd.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Patti Byrd and a brother John Ross Byrd.

Mr. Byrd served as a medic in the United States Army. He was also a funeral director for over 50 years, primarily at Johnson Funeral Home in Elkin.

Those left to cherish his memory are a son Brian Byrd of Jonesville and a daughter Jenee (David) Wood of Belmont.

Mr. Byrd will lie in state at Johnson Funeral Home from 10am-11am on Thursday May 22, 2025. A graveside service with military honors will follow in Arlington Baptist Church Cemetery with Jerry Fugate and Chris Alford officiating.
