Dennis James Keane, age 70, of Annapolis Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday,
September 18, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Dennis was born on April 1, 1955, in Washington, DC, the oldest son of the late Joseph E. and Barbara A. (Romanek) Keane.
A graduate of Archbishop Carroll High School, Dennis’ life was dedicated to his family and
friends, and to his passion and aptitude for his craft of brick and stone masonry. Examples
include his work on the restoration of Orioles Park at Camden Yards, The National Zoo, and
many historic buildings on Capitol Hill, in Washington, D.C. He was a devoted sports fan,
proudly cheering for the Washington Redskins/Commanders and the Washington Capitals,
although his true passion was sailing, both leisurely and for a period with competitive sailing
teams. He once bought a sailboat in Italy and proceeded to sail it back home through the
Mediterranean Sea, across the Atlantic Ocean and up the east coast.
Dennis is survived by his partner, Sherri Ferritto, his son Garrett Armstrong; and his siblings
Timothy (late Dawn) Keane, Colleen (Michael) Weaver, Kathleen (Nathan) Gignac, Christine
(R. Vincent) Beall, and Thomas (Cheryl) Keane. He is also survived by many first cousins,
nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
For details on a celebration of life event in October, please directly contact one of the family
members listed above. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung
Association, the American Heart Association, and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center, in
honor of Dennis.
