John David Monroe, known to those who knew him as just David, 57, a dedicated Christian from White Hall, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2025.
He was born in Hutchison, Kansas on January 13, 1968 to the late James Irwin Monroe and Janice Hendley Monroe. David graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1986 before majoring in Public Administration at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1992. David was a paratransit coordinator for the city of Pine Bluff for many years, worked in the mail room for the Arkansas Department of Correction’s Varner unit, and for the last 6 years has devoted his time taking care of home and son after school.
He was a faithful member of Lemonwood Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fellowship during church activities, being asked to pray, and encouraging his wife when she sang. David also loved the great potluck meals on fifth Sundays.
Anyone who knew David well knew of his love for all things Winnie the Pooh, Old Radio, Southern Gospel music, and Classic TV shows. His love for Pooh stemmed from the first Pooh stuffed animal given to him by his dad. He has favorite childhood memories of watching the TV shows and listening to Old Radio with his dad. He attended many Southern Gospel concerts over the years with his wife and son and became great friends with many of the artists who knew him by name.
He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Katrinia (Byerly) Monroe to whom he married on August 12, 2006; his son, Braxton Monroe; his brother James “Jim” Monroe (Ruth); a niece Sarah Pyle (Andrew); two great-nephews Henry Pyle and Charlie Pyle; and many other extended family and friends.
The Memorial service will be Monday, October 6, 2025, 6:00 p.m. at White Hall First Baptist Church. Visitation will follow the service. Brother Paul Williams, Brother Jimmy Brown, and Brother James Monroe will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please send monetary donations in David’s honor to Lemonwood Missionary Baptist Church, 920 Shepherd Drive, White Hall, AR 71602 or White Hall Food Pantry, P.O. Box 21617, White Hall, AR 71612.
