Darron Lee Chas Smith, 37, of Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on Friday at UPMC Altoona. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the cherished son of Pamela Lee Smith and William H. Crandall Jr.
Darron is survived by his loving parents; his sister, Kristina Hawkins; his five brothers, Derrick Wood, Taj Smith, Tremaine Smith, Jarel Smith and Shawn Smith; four nephews, four nieces, three uncles, five aunts, two great-aunts, one great-uncle, and a host of cousins who will all miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, an aunt, a niece, a nephew, and a sister-in kind.
A 2006 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Virginia, Darron was a dedicated employee of Elite Freight Brokers, LLC, where he served as a dispatcher. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he was often described as a true workaholic.
Darron found joy in sports, particularly basketball and football, and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He was also an avid video gamer and had a deep appreciation for music, especially older R&B. Above all, Darron’s greatest passion was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., located at 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona, PA 16601. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
