A Celebration of Life Service for Darrel Stevens, age 92, of Windom, will be held on Thursday, June 19th at 10:00 AM at the Windom Methodist Church in Windom with Pastor Tommy Suh officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Thursday at the Windom Methodist Church in Windom. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #206 of Windom outside the church immediately following the service in the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

The service will be livestreamed on the Windom Methodist Church Facebook page.

Darrel Marvin Stevens was born October 8, 1932, in Christiana Township in Jackson County, Minnesota to Walter and Myrtle (Johnson) Stevens. He attended school in Bingham Lake and graduated in 1950 from Windom Public Schools.

In 1954 Darrel entered the United States Army and after graduating from 16 weeks of helicopter school, he was assigned to the Ninth Division Headquarters in Goppingen, Germany, where he served in the air section. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and continued to be a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #0206.

On June 18, 1957, he married Joyce Johnson at the Bingham Lake Methodist Church, and they had one daughter, Debra. He and his wife farmed near Bingham Lake until they retired in 1995. Darrel is a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, first in Bingham Lake and then in Windom. He served on various boards, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. He also was a member of the Lakeside Township Board for 21 years. Darrel loved fishing, hunting, spending winters in Arizona, and watching the Vikings.

On June 11, 2025, Darrel passed away peacefully at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after being briefly hospitalized.

Darrel is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and John Peterson; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Laura (Peterson) and Rob Lynett; great-granddaughter, Lainey Lynett; brothers, Gerald, Ronald, Larry, and Roger Stevens; sisters, Maxine (Stevens) Berge and Carol Stevens; sisters- and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Doris Ann Preston, Neva Pilgrim, and Ilene Sharkey; sisters- and brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
