Darel Don Getschel, age 88, of Osceola, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at Christian Community Home, Osceola, Wisconsin.
Darel was born on November 20, 1936 to Clarence and Gladys (Viebrock) Getschel in Farmington Township, Wisconsin. He attended and graduated from Osceola High School. After, graduation, Darel enlisted in the United States Army. He actively served his country from September of 1955 to July of 1958. Darel was in the New Richmond Army National Guard beginning in July of 1958. He was honorably discharged from the military in August of 1961. After returning home from the active military, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, LaVonne Olson, on August 8, 1958. This union was blessed with two sons, Randy and Keith.
Darel enjoyed hunting, playing cards, camping, traveling and being a little mischievous. He became an avid golfer when the local golf course opened. He loved attending all of his children’s and grandchildren’s events. You could always find Darel willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be deeply missed by many.
Darel is survived by his wife of 67 years, LaVonne; children, Randy (Trudi) Getschel and Keith (Cara) Getschel; 6 grandchildren, Kurt (Shanna) Getschel, Michelle (Jason) Kiecker, Chelsea Getschel (Jason Boomgaarden), Lee (Rachel) Getschel, Lindsay (Chris Gibson) Getschel and Lexy (Aubrey) Richardson; 2 great grandchildren, Matthew and Aaron Kiecker; brother Arland (Nadine) Getschel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Darel is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys Getschel; father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Marjorie Olson; sister, Darlene (Donnie) Yunker and sister-in-law, Marlene (Art) Gross Jr.
