Cortney (Holyoak) Sherwin, 50, of Blackstone, MA, passed away on September 27, 2025. Cortney was born on June 10, 1975 in Castro Valley, California to Craig and Sherri (Foote) Holyoak. Cortney was a mother, wife, sister and friend, who had a way of showing kindness, genuine care and concern and love to everyone that was a part of her life.
Cortney married John J. Sherwin on November 12, 1994 in Salt Lake City, UT. They were sealed in marriage in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Cortney and John spent the next 30 plus years building that marriage through hard work, struggles, joy, sadness, happiness and a never-ending, ever-growing love. The greatest accomplishment of their marriage was being blessed with three beautiful children, Braxton Sherwin of Blackstone, MA, Sarah Sherwin of Shoreview, MN and Emily Sherwin of Blackstone, MA. Each of her children reflect many of the traits and talents that Cortney shared in this life.
Cortney was a talented artist and always showed a wonderful sense of thoughtfulness in her drawings, paintings or photographs. She always was able to make home a place of peace, beauty and wonder. She loved decorating her home for the holidays, especially Halloween (she somehow made the house glow purple and orange, inside and out) and Christmas.
She fell in love with New England when she and John moved their family here in 2017. She loved the trees, how green it is, the changing of the leaves in fall, the wildlife that walk through the yard, the rugged coast of Maine and so many quaint New England towns. But most of all, the fireflies. Every year when they come out, it was pure joy and excitement for her to watch them.
Cortney is survived by her husband and children. Her siblings – Camree Holyoak, Ryan Holyoak, Aubrey Tunning (Donny) and Tyler Holyoak. Her extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Preceding Cortney in death are her parents, Craig and Sherri Holyoak. Her grandparents, aunts and uncles that touched her life in many ways.
Cortney was our anchor, the one we each went to with news (good and bad), troubles and when we just needed someone to listen. She will be missed every minute of every day.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11 AM at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Rte. 16, Mendon Street, Uxbridge, MA.
