Clara Harris (née Cohen), a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in the Bronx on June 2, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born Clara Cohen on December 19th, 1930, in New York City, she was the beloved only child of Max and Lillian Cohen. Clara spent her formative years growing up in New Jersey before embarking on a remarkable life journey.
In 1960, Clara married Victor Harris. Their union, though cut short by Victor’s passing in July of 1980, blessed them with three children: Victoria, Victor, and Vittorio, affectionately known as Vito. Clara faced the profound sorrow of losing her youngest son, Vito, in August of 2018. He is survived by his devoted wife, Wilhelmina, and their three cherished children, Michael, David, and Vito. Clara also embraced Victor’s wife, Maria Meli, as a beloved daughter-in-law. Her legacy further extended to her adored granddaughter, Vannah, Victoria’s oldest daughter, and her three precious great-grandchildren, Jacob, Naomi, and Makayla.
Clara was a highly respected and hardworking accountant, a career in which she consistently demonstrated her sharp mind and reliable nature. Beyond her professional life, Clara possessed a vibrant spirit and a diverse range of interests. She was known for her wisdom and kind heart, traits that endeared her to all who knew her. A true culinary matriarch, her Thanksgiving turkey was legendary, a juicy masterpiece eagerly anticipated by her entire family every year.
Even in her later years, Clara pursued growth and self-mastery, becoming a dedicated Tai Chi instructor. This practice reflected her calm demeanor and her desire to share the benefits of balance and mindfulness. For leisure, she enjoyed the precision of shooting and the tranquility of swimming, activities that offered her peace and enjoyment.
Clara Harris leaves behind a legacy of enduring love, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her wisdom, her kindness, and the warmth of her presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
