Clara Canell

Clara Marie Canell (née Vendola) passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at the age of 93. She was the devoted wife of the late Gregory P. Canell, the loving mother of Toni Canell and Joann Canell Stark (Richard) and the adoring grandmother of Gregory and Grant Voegtle.

Clara was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Graziano and Maria (nee Ferrante) Vendola, and her siblings Pvt. John Vendola, Michael Vendola (Marcella), Rose Sauklis (John), Joe Vendola (Shirley), and Mary Gallo (Frank). She is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews who brought her great joy throughout her life.

A woman of many talents, Clara was known for her artistic creativity, her delicious Italian cooking, and her gift for bringing people together. Her warmth, generosity, and love for family and friends will be deeply missed. We find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her parents and siblings who loved her dearly.

A Visitation will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 185 E. Northwest Hightway, Palatine, IL.  Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL.  For funeral info call 847-359-8020.
