Brilliant, charismatic, kind and beloved “Great Uncle” Christopher D’Amanda died peacefully on October 18, 2025 surrounded by family.

After attending Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard University, he earned his medical degree at SUNY Buffalo and became a dedicated physician. In the late 1960s he was enlisted in the U.S. Public Health Service and spent three years with the people of West Africa for the eradication of smallpox; his later career was devoted to the compassionate care for those suffering from the disease of addiction. His curiosity and sense of adventure led him to travel the globe and to speak multiple languages.

Christopher is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Dorothy, his brother Louis II and nephew Louis III. Along with several cousins and a trail of friends made worldwide, he leaves behind his sister-in-law, Allis D’Amanda, his beloved nieces and nephews, Dorothy (John) Hayes, John (Kathy) D’Amanda, Gale (Jeff) Fox, Christopher (Elisabetta) D’Amanda, and a bevy of grand-nieces and -nephews.
