Charles Richard Seifert-“Chuck” to anyone lucky enough to know him-stepped quietly into eternity on September 13, 2025, closing a chapter that started in Appleton, Wisconsin on January 31, 1944. Chuck inherited his parent’s Wilmer and Mabel (Kluess) Seifert’s spirit of kindness, hard work, and the good humor needed to handle life’s toughest jobs.
It was destiny that Chuck spotted Judy in high school-because two hearts as genuine and generous as theirs were always meant to find one another. Married on March 20, 1965, they built a lifetime with laughter, devotion and an unspoken competition for whose love was greater: Chuck’s for the outdoors, or Judy’s for the family gathered in her kitchen. The answer, as anyone at their table would confirm, was always “both.”
For 37 years, Chuck arrived at NCR Corporation ready to tackle any task and make friends with everyone he met. He found fulfillment in service, both to his country through the Army Reserves and to his neighbors as a steadfast volunteer at the Bark Lake Fire Department for 16 years. Retirement? Not for a man like Chuck. Instead, he founded ‘Chuck’s Honey Do’s Done,’ turning his knack for fixing things and dispensing wisdom into a heartfelt gift for neighbors across Neosho and beyond.
Nothing lit up Chuck’s eyes like a foggy morning at the lake, the opening day of deer season, or a kitchen filled with Judy’s cooking. He measured his days in laughter, in stories shared around the table, and in patient lessons passed along to his children – and to any kid who could benefit from knowing the difference between a walleye and a bluegill, or a buck rub and how to spot the difference between a Hairy and Downey woodpecker at the bird feeder. His woods were always open, his advice always ready, and his faith in others steadfast.
His greatest treasures remain: daughters Melanie (Daniel) Ramlow of Lisbon and Jessica (Steven) Seifert of Caledonia, son Thad Seifert of Neosho, and two grandchildren, Madison and Luke – all raised with the passion for the outdoors and the comforting rhythm of family stories retold over coffee.
No meal around Chuck’s farm table was complete without a side of laughter and a helping of good-natured teasing, shared with his brother Roger (Kaye), and Leon (Bonnie) Seifert. Now, as he pulls up a celestial chair beside Judy, his parents, and sister Jeanne, we remember a life lived like a campfire: warm, generous, and always beckoning others closer. His legacy will live on in every child who learns to fish, every neighbor who finds their home mended, and every soul who listens for the echo of joy over a crowded farm table.
A steadfast member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Neosho, WI, Chuck poured hours and heart into renovating the church-a place where the community could share the warmth he believed in. And, in ultimate Chuck fashion, everyone is invited to honor him here: Visitation will be held on September 27 from 10-12, with services from 12-1PM, followed by light lunch. The service will be live streamed for those afield and afar (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3JbFdqUUxdz8rEiUvOL2iw/live), and he’d wear a grin if you came dressed in a little bit of camo. Flowers were Judy’s delight; Chuck cherished his church, so donations to St. Paul’s, please, in lieu of bouquets. Everyone is invited to Chuck’s farm in the afternoon where we can share our favorite stories and celebrate a man who truly made all of our lives better by knowing him.
Rest gently, Chuck. May the woods always be open and the water always clear.
