Charles Broukal, age 99, died on October 7, 2025, at the Friendly Village in Rhinelander. He was born on May 25, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George and Rose (Ganta) Broukal.
Charles graduated from high school and was enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served during World War II. After his service he moved to Summitt Lake, WI with his wife Ruth in 1955. Charles and Ruth opened the North Trail Store in Summitt Lake and in the early 1960’s they purchased another store in Elcho, WI and named it North Trail Store as well.
Charles was a proud WWII veteran, a member of the American Legion and the Masons. He enjoyed traveling and did quite often, often enough to see all fifty states. He loved most of all playing cards and spending time with his family.
Charles is survived by his daughter Ginger (Paul) Ernst, grandson Michael (Sherry) Mischler, grandson in law Doran Powell, great granddaughters Natashia (Bachirou Okotan Kpakpatrou) Powell, Shania (Nathan) Meetz, great grandson Dillon (Cianna) Mischler great great grandchildren Ryden, Hudson, Oliver and Melody, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his with Ruth, son Greg (Pat) Broukal, and granddaughter Tina Powell
