Celestia Frei
- June 7, 2025

Celestia Ann Frei, 47, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2025, in Provo, Utah. She was born at Utah Valley Hospital and raised in Midvale, Utah, where she developed a deep love for learning, storytelling, and the arts–gifts she would share throughout her life. Celestia spent the last 18 years living with her sister Sarah, creating a home filled with laughter, love, and support. Their close bond was a cherished part of her life, bringing comfort and companionship throughout the years.
Celestia earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts Education from Brigham Young University, a fitting reflection of her love for culture, education, and people. She had a passion for drama and the arts, which she brought to life as a theater teacher in Texas. Later, she continued her connection to the theater while teaching at Mountainville Academy, where she also served as a drama coach and directed several school plays. Most recently, she continued to bless others in her role as an administrative assistant at Utah Valley University in the Woodbury School of Business. Her creativity, organization, and kindness made her a valued colleague and mentor to students and faculty alike.
As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Celestia lived a life of quiet discipleship. She served in many callings, including youth leader, Primary teacher, and Young Women’s President at the Utah State Hospital. She also served a full-time mission in Dallas, Texas, where she touched countless lives with her testimony, compassion, and cheerful heart.
Celestia will be remembered for the warmth and light she brought to everyone around her. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and important. Her radiant smile and outgoing nature drew people in, and she never missed an opportunity to strike up a conversation, whether with a lifelong friend or a perfect stranger. Celestia remained cheerful and gracious throughout the various challenges of her life. Her laughter and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew her, and her life was one of generosity, optimism, and faith—a legacy that will live on through all those she loved.
She enjoyed planning adventures and traveling, especially the memorable trip she took to the East Coast to experience Broadway productions in New York. Additionally, she has orchestrated many trips to Disneyland with her family members, where she would share all the tips to make sure it was enjoyed by all who attended. She was always looking forward to her next adventure—whether it was a future trip to Paris or the next family reunion at Disneyland planned for June. Her favorite things reflected her playful and imaginative spirit: Disneyland, Cinderella, Legos, and movies such as Harry Potter, The Muppets, and Star Wars. She loved making memory books of her trips and adventures and found joy in crafting of all kinds. Celestia had a storyteller’s heart and a gift for captivating audiences with humor drawn from her own life experiences.
Celestia had a special place in her heart for children and her family. She would faithfully send out birthday and Christmas cards. In fact, many people would comment that hers were the first to arrive in the mail. At one point, she decided to take a formal calligraphy class to improve the beauty and elegance of the personal handwritten notes on each card. At one time, she had memorized the names of her 132 cousins on both sides—an incredible testament to her devotion and love.
Celestia is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ben and Mona Frei, and her Grandfather, Kay Lambert. She is survived by her grandmother, Lou Ann Lambert; her parents, Ben and Aurelia Frei; and her siblings: David (Sharon), Sarah, Lance (Hope), Curtis (Micaela), Kjersten, Rachel, and Nathan. She also leaves behind 14 beloved nieces and nephews: Emron, Shaila, Anthony, Janelle, Emily, LashaBelle, Halden, Thealissa, Hazelynn, Aridyn, Benjamin, Sebastian, William, and Lixendra.
Celestia’s Funeral Service is provided by Utah Valley Mortuary and will be held on Monday, June 16, at 11:00 AM at the Bonneville 3rd Ward chapel, located at 715 Utah Ave, Provo, Utah. A Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, at the same location. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services back at the church. For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom link will be made available to join the service remotely. A video will be made available after the funeral for download.
Celestia’s legacy of love, light, and laughter will be cherished always. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
More than anything, the family would love to hear your stories, memories, or see photos of Celestia. Please share memories here on her Memorial Website. These will be gathered into a keepsake book to remember the joy, kindness, and light she brought into so many lives.
