Carson City trustees to discuss school performance ratings, budget updates Tuesday
- October 23, 2025

The Carson City School Board will consider an early-notification payout for staff retirements and resignations, review school performance ratings, and set the superintendent’s evaluation timeline when trustees meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
The incentive item would authorize cash payments for employees who declare plans to retire or resign at the end of the 2025–26 year, with total costs capped at $60,000 in the current budget cycle. Action is possible.
Trustees will also hear the 2024–25 Nevada School Performance Framework results for district schools. No other information has been provided at this time, and it is listed as “discussion only” on the agenda.
The board will also hear an informational update on the 2026–27 budget and discuss proposed changes to Regulation 805 on emergency operations; and receive a progress check on the “Empower Carson City 2027” strategic plan.
The board is slated to approve the evaluation form and timeline for the superintendent’s 2025 review and may cancel its Dec. 23 meeting. Both items are listed for possible action.
A workshop at 6 p.m. will precede the meeting, with round-table discussion on how the district is using Pupil-Centered Funding Plan dollars for English Learners, Gifted and Talented, and At-Risk students (no action).
Public comment will be taken in person. Written comments may be emailed by 12:30 p.m. on meeting day and must include the sender’s full name; names will be read into the record and emails posted, but not read aloud. Comments on action items are taken before votes.
Routine consent items include payables, hiring actions, vaccination exemptions under state law, the quarterly class-size report, a state economic survey, and a request to withdraw for a high-school equivalency exam.
