It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Ray Jr., who left us on Wednesday, October 3, 2025, at the age of 64.
Billy was born on September 8, 1961, in Waco, Texas, to parents Billy Ralph Ray and Mary Hancock. Billy lived a full and spirited life, marked by hard work, adventure, and a one-of-a-kind personality.
If you knew Billy, you knew his life had two speeds: hard work and pure enjoyment. He spent years mastering his craft in construction, literally building things from the ground up by pouring concrete. Later, he became the familiar face managing Chapman’s Check Cashing on Valley Mills Drive—a place where his unforgettable character truly shone.
In retirement, Billy found his greatest joy on the open road. Few things matched the freedom he felt riding his motorcycle, the wind on his face and the world stretched out before him. When life slowed down, he found peace in the quiet moments of hunting with friends. Billy’s passions were simple—being outdoors, staying in motion, and sharing laughter with those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sisters, Tina and Gina Ray; and nephew, Brandon “Bubba” Ray.
Billy is survived by his daughters, Whitney Ray (Sierra Ray) and Ashley Lynch (Randy Lynch); brother, Randall Ray (Judy); sisters, Audrey Ray and Debbie Heflefinger; nephew, Bobby Heflefinger, and Tanner Nightingale; and nieces, Kayla Ray Escobar, Kaci Ray, and Tierra Hennig.
Billy’s memory will live on through his loving family and the many friends and community members who will forever miss his presence.
