By Ronni Hannaman — A pirate ship, a small narrow gauge train and cool, cool music is on the venue for the free community Beach Boys Tribute Concert coming to the east end of Mills Park this Friday, June 13 courtesy of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and Hometown Health.
Under the protected canopy of the Marv Teixeira Pavilion, Woodie and the Longboards, the nationally acclaimed Beach Boys Tribute Band from Southern California will be wowing the audience with their on the spot rendition of the danceable and sing-along music that shot the original Beach Boys to the top of the music charts for many years and is still beloved today. The music begins at 6 pm. There will be seating, but bringing your own comfy beach chair is encouraged.
Here’s your chance to ride the famous little train built by volunteers. The Carson & Mills Park RR will begin tooting at 5:30 pm taking riders around the park before and during the concert. All ages love this little narrow gauge train that only runs during the summer and is offered free courtesy of Southwest Gas.

What’s even more exciting, matey, is the chance to become a pirate or a mermaid for a few minutes as the Viking pirate ship, named Fjorgyn for the mother of Thor, welcomes guests of all ages to fantasize of pirate days of yore. Saltwater Tavern owner Jeannie Morgan is excited to display this grand ship, once a staple at Burning Man and seen in the Nevada Day Parade, at no charge to pirates and mermaids.
Food and drink vendors will be serving their specials until the last chord is sung or the vittles run out. Come hungry, come thirsty.
Overflow parking will be available at the Carson High parking lot.
Come enjoy the beach party and the good, good, good vibrations brought to you as our gift to celebrate the Chamber’s 80th Anniversary. If you are named Rhonda or Barbara Ann, this is your party too and you’ll dance on stage when your song is dedicated to you!
The Chamber is excited to share our special event with the community. We hope to see you there!
Don your red sneakers and beachy shirts and white “pedal pushers” and join in the good, good vibrations that will rock Teixeira Pavilion beginning around 6 pm on Friday, June 13. Make this a family event! VIP tickets available to include BBQ, drinks, upfront seating and more: https://carsoncitychamber.com/spotlight/details/80th_anniversary
