Barbara Joan Rector Sinclair, born on February 2, 1944, in Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on June 10, 2025, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication that deeply touched the lives of those around her.

Barbara devoted over 30 years to the field of education, shaping young minds with wisdom and kindness. Her career included teaching at Andrews Air Force Base, where she inspired many students and colleagues with her unwavering commitment to learning and growth.

A woman of diverse passions, Barbara enjoyed golf—a pastime that brought her joy and relaxation. Her heart was especially dedicated to rescuing dogs, demonstrating her deep compassion and empathy for all creatures. Her kindness extended not just to animals, but to every person she met, and her beautiful smile was a source of warmth and comfort to everyone who encountered it.

Barbara was an active member of the Etowah United Methodist Church and held a firm foundation in the Baptist faith through which she was baptized. Her spiritual journey was one of devotion and community service, reflecting her belief in love and kindness.

She is preceded in death by her cherished parents, Arthur Rector and Mary Lou Rowland Rector. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, William “Bill” Sinclair; her sister, Linda Rector; and her nieces, Lisa Atkins and her husband, Jason, and Brandee Morris and her husband, Chris. She also leaves behind her adored great-nieces and great-nephew, Gracie Atkins, Luke Atkins, Caroline Morris, and Addie Morris.

Though no services will be held at this time, Barbara’s family invites all who wish to honor her memory to consider making a memorial contribution in her name to the Brother Wolf Animal Rescue of Asheville or the Blue Ridge Humane Society—causes that were dear to her heart.

Barbara Joan Rector Sinclair’s life was a testimony to the power of love, education, and community. She will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit continues to inspire all who knew her.
