It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of August Sica, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. August passed away September 15, 2025 at the age of 70, surrounded by those who loved him.
Born in Hoboken, NJ, on May 14, 1955, August Sica grew up in Union City, NJ. He also lived in North Bergen, NJ, Caldwell, NJ, and Brick, NJ, before settling in Roseland, NJ, and recently moved to Andover, NJ.
A Master Carpenter specializing in cabinetry and finishing, August Sica most notably worked on the Clam Broth House in Hoboken. He loved what he did and always put his heart into work.
August was a strong, proud, and faith-filled man who lived a simple life but made a deep and lasting impact on everyone around him. To know him was to love him. He found joy in the everyday moments and treasured nothing more than time spent with his family. As a devoted father and grandfather, his greatest pride was his children and grandchildren, with whom he shared countless memories, laughter, and love.
He was predeceased by his parents, August Sica and Josephine Lamastra.
He is survived by his beloved children: Jason and his wife, Heather; Christopher and his wife, Joni; Jennifer Metzler and her husband, Michael; and Eric. He was a cherished grandfather to Olivia, Emma, Brayden, Ava, Jayden, Gavin, and Xander. He also leaves behind his dear siblings: Ann Chamas and her husband, James; Rosetta Laveglia and her husband, Anthony; J Joseph and his wife, Elaine; Mary Olson and the late William; Francis; Louis and his wife, Yvette; Bernadette Simmons and her husband, Garry; the late Dolores Sica; Angela Nolan and her husband, Thomas; and Gerard and his wife, Katherine.
August’s legacy of kindness, quiet strength, and deep faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ 07068, (shookfarmer.com). Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland, NJ, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org).
