Arthur left us on July 17th, too soon and unexpectedly, from the very heart that poured out immense love for all who knew him. He was at peace in the home he built, surrounded by memories, a testament to the beautiful life he so lovingly crafted.

Arthur was truly a father to many, extending his warmth and guidance far beyond his own children. He was a man defined by his calm presence, genuine spirit, and boundless love, leaving an unforgettable mark on every soul he touched.

Born in Houston, Texas, Arthur embarked on a new adventure at 19, leaving his hometown to pursue his passion for football at Compton Junior College. His journey then led him to Daly City, California, where he continued his education at San Francisco State University. It was there that destiny intervened, and he met the love of his life, Jane. Jane caught his eye while working at Serramonte Mall, and from that moment, their bond blossomed into a deep and enduring love. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family, sharing countless cherished moments with the same circle of friends, embarking on memorable road trips, and celebrating anniversaries always hand-in-hand.

Arthur’s love for his family was truly immeasurable. His cherished daughter, Alysah, was forever his “daddy’s girl”; he adored her dearly, and she knew she could always come to him to chat and catch up on their day, finding comfort and understanding in his presence. With his treasured son, James, Arthur shared a special bond forged over mutual interests and passions. It was Arthur who introduced James to his lifelong love for cars, especially his own beloved old-school, big square models like his C10 truck and Suburban. These weren’t just vehicles; they were cherished project cars, providing endless hours of shared tinkering and connection between father and son.

Arthur was known for his unique blend of heartfelt “tough love” and playful teasing. He possessed a stern face that always gave way to the warmest heart, often sharing wisdom with a friendly poke. He had a fond habit of calling everyone “Shaniqua” and a steadfast refusal to ask for directions, preferring to declare, “Just ride, baby, just ride!” Though his days of gardening, learning, and tinkering in the garage and backyard have now come to a close, the laughter and deep love he shared will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends.

Arthur lived a life overflowing with warmth and generosity. His circle of friends was vast and diverse, including his beloved Trader Joe’s coworkers and car meet enthusiasts who became cherished lifelong companions.

Those who knew Arthur will always remember his iconic “mean mug” that instantly softened into the most comforting, “big teddy bear hugs.” His sudden departure leaves an insurmountable void, as the world has lost a truly sweet and kind soul when it is needed most. Arthur’s legacy will continue to shine brightly through the love, compassion, and kindness he demonstrated throughout his life and so freely shared with everyone around him.
